What is Scintigraphy?
Scintigraphy is a nuclear medicine imaging method used to visualize the function of specific organs and detect abnormalities in the body. In this technique, a small amount of a radiopharmaceutical is administered to the patient, which travels to the targeted organ or tissue. A special gamma camera then captures images of the radiation emitted, providing valuable information about the structure and function of the organ.
This method is used for:
Scintigraphy is a safe, non-invasive procedure that allows early detection of functional changes before structural damage occurs. The duration of the scan varies depending on the organ studied and can range from 30 minutes to a few hours. Results can usually be obtained the next day.
Special English reports are prepared for international patients, and the process is managed with language support.
